Last season Gary Gardner had a productive spell on loan at Nottingham Forest last season. He impressed during his time at the City Ground and it was hoped that he might be able to make a breakthrough into the Aston Villa first-team again this term.
However his season, as it has been throughout his career, has been blighted by injury problems.
The midfielder, younger brother of West Brom star Craig, unfortunately suffered an ankle injury in a pre-season friendly against Swindon Town this summer. That has kept him out of contention for Tim Sherwood this season.
Gardner, a former England under-21 star, has however now made his comeback.
He scored for Aston Villa's reserves yesterday in a behind-closed-doors friendly. The midfielder is well known for scoring some fairly special goals and today he shared a video of his strike and, it was a beauty.
He picked up the ball on the edge of the box, shifted it right, and curled a delightful effort into the top corner.
Gardner has not featured for Aston Villa since May 2013 because of injuries, selection and different loan deals. Keep scoring goals like this and Sherwood will need to bring him in.
