The England international has been out since March with a complicated knee injury.
Southampton have certainly had to deal with their fair share of serious injuries in recent times. Not only did they lose Jay Rodriguez for a year but goalkeeper Fraser Forster has also been out of action for some time now.
The England international suffered a serious injury against Burnley back in March. He broke his kneecap and tore his patellar tendon in an awkward fall and was ruled out for the rest of the year.
With that in mind Southampton brought in former Dutch international Maarten Stekelenburg on loan from Fulham to plug the gap and he has so far performed admirably in the ex-Celtic star's enforced absence.
But it certainly looks as though Forster is in fact edging closer to first-team fitness than previously thought.
The giant stopper posted this video on his social media accounts earlier today - highlighting the step up in his recovery from the knee problem:
Southampton fans will certainly be hoping to catch a glimpse of Forster at some point this season.
