Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland posts excited Tweet over Ryan Shawcross

The Potters stopper is looking forward to the captain's return to first-team action.

Stoke City have just been given a huge boost after Ryan Shawcross stepped up his return to full fitness this week.

The Potters captain has been out of action since pre-season. He suffered a back injury against Brentford and had to undergo surgery on the problem in the summer. He has not played this season and Stoke fans are eagerly anticipating his return to first-team action.

Last night he played for the first time since undergoing surgery. He featured for 45 minutes for the Stoke under-21s in a game v local rivals Port Vale's reserves at Vale Park.

He got through the performance unscathed and there will be lingering hopes of him potentially returning to action for Stoke's next Premier League game against Swansea City on Monday 19th.

One man clearly pleased to see him back in action was Stoke's number one keeper Jack Butland. The England international is clearly looking forward to having the stalwart in front of him and posted this Tweet last night:
