The Romanian defender has been struggling with injury since February.
He has unfortunately suffered some injury issues in his time at St Mary's Stadium. Gardos, who signed from Steaua Bucharest for a fee reported by the BBC to be in the region of £6 million in August 2014, most recently suffered a serious knee injury in a pre-season friendly against Feyenoord and would be out of action until the new year.
The 26-year-old central defender is therefore on the sidelines and is not taking part for either Southampton or the Romanian national team, for whom he has 14 caps.
He is missing Romania's games against Finland and the Faroe Islands this week and the 24-year-old is looking forward to a positive future with both Southampton and Romania. He posted this Tweet earlier today:
Sometimes, I get a good feeling. Tonight, Romania vs Finland. Can't be on the pitch, but my heart is there with the boys. Immense game!— Florin Gardoș (@floringardos5) October 8, 2015
Gardos has impressed in his fleeting appearances with Southampton but he has played just 18 times since his arrival and has not featured since picking up an injury against West Brom in February.
By the time he returns to action it is likely he would have been out of action for almost a year and Southampton fans will hope he will come back strong.
