Tottenham have been linked with signing Gent striker Laurent Depoitre.
Tottenham are said to be tracking the Belgian striker ahead of the January transfer window, and a report in HLN has stated the asking price Gent have set on his head.
According to the report, Gent general manager Michel Louwagie will not be selling any player in January for an asking price of less than €20 million, which equates to roughly £15 million.
Spurs are looking to bring in another striker in the January transfer window to provide cover and competition for Harry Kane, and Depoitre is said to be one of their main targets to full this role.
Is Depoitre worth £15 million?
Judging by his past record, it is hard to imagine Spurs would be willing to splash out that sort of fee on Depoitre, especially considering he has no experience of English football.
The 26-year-old should theoretically not be at his peak yet, but he has only played 61 games in the Belgian top division, scoring 21 goals, in a league undoubtedly weaker than the Premier League.
He is in a good streak of form right now, but £15m is a lot to pay for a player, who offers no guarantees about potential suitability to either English football, or Tottenham’s style of play.
