Liverpool may be wise to hold back in January however, buying quality rather than quantity, if available, with mid-season signings often difficult to acquire and taking time to settle.
In Klopp, Liverpool have a manager capable of attracting the very best players in Europe, a trait Brendan Rodgers did not possess, or had not earned through his career so far.
The German will want to get to know his squad over the course of the season, and next summer even assess returning loan players like Lazar Markovic, Tiago Ilori and even Mario Balotelli.
Klopp is also renowned for working with and developing youth players, and for this reason his appointment mid-season is good news, to allow him several months to get to know the youngsters at the club and work out who he sees capable of making the jump into the first team, potentially saving millions in the transfer market.
