Should Benik Afobe head to Aston Villa or Newcastle United this winter?

The striker has been banging in goals for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This week has seen both Newcastle United and Aston Villa linked with the same player ahead of a potential January move.

The player in question is Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Benik Afobe.

The former Arsenal striker was linked with both teams during the summer but that interest does not look like going anywhere fast.

The Mirror reported that Newcastle were considering a £14 million move for the player. Aston Villa were linked with a £10 million move for Afobe by The Sun.

There is no doubt as to why teams are keen on the player.

He scored 32 goals in all competitions for the MK Dons and Wolves last season. He has started the new campaign in similar form - smashing in six goals in 12 appearances.

So who needs him more?

Both spent big on strikers this summer. Villa brought in Rudy Gestede and Jordan Ayew whilst Newcastle snapped up Aleksandar Mitrovic.

But the latter surely need him more. Villa have s cored more goals thatn Newcastle and have plenty more attacking options than at St James Park. Newcastle are in dire need of striking reinforcements. The club currently have a card-happy Mitrovic, sub-par Papiss Cisse and reliable but not potent Ayoze Perez to count on.

Afobe would get more game time and goals if he headed to St James Park this winter.
