Kia Joorabchian says his client is entirely focused on the Reds, despite reports to the contrary.
The Brazilian is arguably the star of the show on Merseyside, having arrived from Inter Milan and flourished to become a key player in the Reds' ranks.
His performances haven’t gone unnoticed either, with rumours from a number of sources in recent times suggesting that Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in securing the Brazilian’s services at some stage in future.
However, the player’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, has said that a move is not on the cards for his client.
“Philippe is extremely happy at Liverpool,” the Daily Mail reports him as saying.
“He signed a new long term contract towards the end of last season that represents his ambition and his feeling for Liverpool. Reports that I have been talking to Real Madrid about Philippe are not true.”
While Liverpool fans will be pleased to hear that Coutinho is not angling for a move at present, they will fear one could happen in future.
The lure of Spain has proved too strong for a number of players down the years, with the opportunity to regularly challenge for both league titles and Champions League glory considered by many to be too good to turn down.
South American stars are particularly attracted to the La Liga heavyweights, as Luis Suarez proved the summer before last as he left England for Catalunya. Liverpool fans will hope Coutinho does not tread a similar path any time soon.
