The Gers striker has been in scintillating form in recent weeks.
The 25-year old picked up the Championship Player of the Month award for September in what is recognition of his consistency in front of goal over the last few weeks.
The former Wigan man has netted 14 goals in 14 games this season and is showing no signs of slowing down.
His goal return has been facilitated by the excellent work of those around him and he was quick to mention his team-mates contribution.
“The way we play football helps me; we are very attack minded, we are young, we are hungry and we have the same ambitions and goals for this season,” said Waghorn.
A consistent run of games has been lacking in recent years for the South Shields-born striker, but he now appears to be over his fitness issues and is reaping the reward.
“Everything has just clicked for me this season – getting a run of games was just massive for me, that was crucial. I always said if I got games I would score goals and thankfully that’s happening.
“Like most strikers I thrive on playing games and with the attacking threat that we’ve got I’m going to get chances and it’s just down to me to put them in the net.
“To come here and be stable after two or three years injured and struggling is just great,” he added.
Waghorn is on course to smash his initial 20-goal target for the season as part of a Gers team that look like breaking all kinds of records.
