The Anfield faithful have responded on social media to reports linking the Brazilian with the Etihad outfit.
Is Manchester City's transfer policy all based on their 3-2 defeat at Anfield in April 2014?
It almost seems like it after reports emerged of City bidding £50 million for Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho. Indeed, according to the Daily Mirror, the Premier League leaders will start the bidding for the Brazilian at £50m in January.
First Raheem Sterling, now this...
And the Sterling case is very interesting when looking at Coutinho's future. The reports linking Sterling to Manchester City started off the same way. The odd article materialised and fans laughed it off, although the Reds youngster soon made it clear he intended to leave Merseyside. In the end, the move happened over the summer.
But Liverpool supporters have immediately reacted on Twitter with the sentiment that Coutinho is not like Sterling. Much like last year, a few fans have laughed the links off. Others have simply urged the Anfield outfit to make sure, especially if Jurgen Klopp takes over at Liverpool, that the 23-year-old isn't allowed to leave.
Here's how supporters took to social media in response to the Coutinho - Manchester City links. Do the Kop have anything to fear or will the Brazilian make sure he stays put?
Surely coutinho wouldn't go man city— Alberto Moreno (@bondboykarl) October 7, 2015
But we have to keep Coutinho, nothing is more precious to the team than the little magician.— President Pedro (@pedrotovotefor) October 7, 2015
