Gent director Michel Louwagie rules out sale of Laurent Depoitre in January

Tottenham have reportedly been scouting Laurent Depoitre of KAA Gent.

Tottenham are said to be looking at Laurent Depoitre of KAA Gent, but managing director of the Belgian side, Michel Louwagie, has ruled out the striker leaving in the January transfer window when speaking to RTBF.

Louwagie said: “Laurent Depoitre will not leave Gent in January.”

A simple statement, but one which rules out any potential sale of the striker, 26, who has been enjoying the most prolific spell of his career with Gent.

Four goals in seven games this season have seen Depoitre start the campaign in excellent form, and he has been called up to the Belgium squad for the first time in his career, for the ongoing international break.

A little known name in the world of English football, Deportee’s performances have been increasing his reputation, and Tottenham’s interest in the striker was confirmed yesterday by one of Gent’s former players.

Speaking to RTL Sport, ex-striker Fred Herpoel confirmed that Tottenham were tracking the forward, and he admitted that a January exit to Spurs looked likely.

However, Gent director Louwagie has ruled out such a sale, and if Spurs truly want to bring the striker in, they will have to make a big push to get Gent to even consider selling Depoitre.
