Crystal Palace plan new move for in-demand Shevlin

HITC Sport understands Crystal Palace are set to make a new bid for Northern Ireland hot-shot Matthew Shevlin.

Crystal Palace are preparing to make an improved offer for Ballymena United starlet Matthew Shevlin after seeing their initial bid turned down, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club

Ballymena chairman John Taggart confirmed earlier this week that the club had rejected Palace's offer for Shevlin after the teenager impressed on trial last month.

Palace are keen to secure the signing of Shevlin quickly as they look to fend off growing interest in the highly-rated attacker.

Sheffield United are weighing up a bid for Shevlin after being impressed by him during a trial at Bramall Lane last week.

Huddersfield Town are also considering a move for Shevlin, while Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers are keeping track on the youngster after watching him on several occasions.

A host of other clubs are thought to have made enquiries for the talented prospect with Ballymena unlikely to stand in his way of moving to the professional ranks.

Palace are aware of the mounting interest in Shevlin and they are determined to steal a march on their rivals by making a new improved offer for the forward as they look to take him to Selhurst Park.
