Enner Valencia is back in first-team training with West Ham.

Published on the official West Ham Twitter account, Enner Valencia has shown himself back in training, scoring a lovely chipped goal for the first time since his summer injury.

The Ecuadorian striker, who impressed with the Hammers last season, has made just one appearance this season, lasting 37 minutes of a Europa League tie with Astra - in which he scored.

However, he was taken off in that game with injury, and has been out of action since then with an issue concerning his right knee and ankle.

West Ham have been able to call upon Diafra Sakho and deadline day signing Nikica Jelavic in Valencia’s absence, but neither of those players possess his versatility in the attacking positions.

His Premier League goal record could be improved, but he has shown he can hit the back of the net, and his chipped finish in training is one that West Ham fans will be hoping to see Valencia make when back in competitive action.

With the form Sakho has been showing as a lone striker in Slaven Bilic’s 4-2-3-1 system, Valencia will have to keep impressing like this in training if he is ever to get a chance to lead the line when he is back in action.

Now that Valencia is back in training, it should not be long before he is ready to take to the field of play. However, he still faces a few weeks out as he comes back to full match fitness, as the Hammers will not want to rush him back in case he suffers a recurrence of the injury.
