HITC Sport understands Sheffield Wednesday are set to open contract talks with striker Atdhe Nuhiu.
Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to tie down striker Atdhe Nuhiu to a new deal at Hillsborough, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Nuhiu is out of contract at the end of the season and Wednesday are determined to secure his long-term future at the club.
The 6ft 4in hit-man joined Sheffield Wednesday in 2013 on a free transfer from Rapid Vienna and the former Austria Under-21 international has proved a real handful for opposition defences.
After scoring eight goals in his first season, Nuhiu finished last season as Wednesday's top scorer with 11 goals in all competitions.
Nuhiu's future at Wednesday looked uncertain this summer after the club brought in two new strikers in Lucas Joao and Marco Matias, but Nuhiu has established himself in Carlos Carvalhal's side.
The 26-year-old has scored three goals in 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season and Nuhiu remains a key figure in the Wednesday side.
A number of clubs are thought to be monitoring Nuhiu's situation at Hillsborough, but Wednesday are ready to ward off any potential interest by opening talks over a new deal.
