Deutsche Bank has appointed Chris Towery to lead the bank’s chemical team for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

Bloomberg News reports that Managing Director Towery will move to London from the U.S., with a mandate to rebuild Deutsche Bank’s chemical M&A team after some departures, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the appointment hasn’t been made public.

In the meantime, Bloomberg also reports that Royal Bank of Canada has hired Matthieu Herbeau from BNP Paribas as global head of foreign-exchange execution for its RBC Investor and Treasury Services unit.

Herbeau will be a managing director in London, the Toronto-based company said Monday in an e-mailed statement.
