Tottenham fans have hit back at Jamie Carragher.
Speaking after Brendan Rodgers' sacking as Reds boss, Carragher was quoted in The Mirror stating that Liverpool have sunk to Tottenham's level.
He said: "Liverpool are becoming Tottenham, think they're a big club but the real big clubs are not too worried about them - who they buy, what they're going to do - that's the situation as it's become for Liverpool, even when I was there at the end.
"I'm not just blaming Brendan Rodgers and this set of players. What are these owners of the club going to do to get Liverpool back where they need to be?"
Such comments must be hard for Carragher to make about a club he nearly loves, but his words have offended Tottenham supporters who did not take kindly to hearing his comparison.
Liverpool are in the process of looking to appoint a new manager, and it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Carragher is offered a job within the club as an assistant or defensive coach, dependent on the wishes of the next manager.
If that happens, then the upcoming fixture at White Hart Lane could have a little bit extra spice thanks to Carragher's recent comparison.
