The Newcastle United teenager has continued his great start to his loan spell at Coventry City.
It was telling that on the weekend that Newcastle United were humiliated 6-1 by Manchester City, one of the Magpies’ best players so far this season was scoring his seventh and eighth goals of the season elsewhere.
Adam Armstrong may only be 18, but the striker has already made a name for himself during his loan spell at League One side Coventry City, where he has netted eight goals in nine matches to date.
As reported by the Coventry Telegraph, Armstrong has now been named in the Football League Team of the Week and the publication’s readership also voted the young Newcastle player as their man of the match at the weekend.
This is the second time Armstrong has been named among the best 11 players in the Football League this season and one wonders just what would have happened if he had remained at Newcastle.
To compare League One football with the challenges of the Premier League would be foolish in the extreme, and yet Armstrong has stepped up to every challenge he has faced so far and he would not have done as badly as some of his more senior Newcastle teammates.
Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, it is clear Newcastle have a wonderful goal-scorer for the future; the question is: when will that future begin?
