Manchester United round-up: Early team news and Schweinsteiger's rallying cry

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United...

Manchester United take on Arsenal at the Emirates stadium this weekend in a huge Premier League match for both sides.

United slipped off top spot on Saturday after Manchester City’s 6-1 demolition of Newcastle United, but they can leapfrog the Blues with a victory against the Gunners.

That will be easier said than done with Arsenal desperate for three points of their own, and whatever happens this weekend expect fireworks in North London.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Michael Carrick is once again available for United after missing the recent clash with Wolfsburg.

Ander Herrera remains a doubt but would have been unlikely to start the match anyway, while Arsenal are without midfielders Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini.

In other news, United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has sent a rallying cry ahead of his side’s vital clash.

The German international has settled well at Old Trafford since arriving from Bayern Munich during the summer, and on Sunday morning he posted a message on Twitter ahead of the Arsenal game.

“A prestigious match against a very good team,” he wrote. “Let’s do this!”
