Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Jamie Redknapp’s Anthony Martial comments

Jamie Redknapp has compared Manchester United’s Anthony Martial to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.

Manchester United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to recent comments made by Jamie Redknapp about Anthony Martial.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Redknapp claimed last week that United striker Martial is the best young prospect since Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

The France international joined the Red Devils from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco in the summer transfer window, and it seems that he has already made a huge impression on the Sky Sports pundit.

“I watched Anthony Martial for 90 minutes in the Champions League and the only 19-year-old I've seen better at that age was Lionel Messi,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

"I played against Wayne Rooney when he made his debut but this boy has so much intelligence. He knows when to pass, when to cross it, when to dribble and when to shoot. He goes past people like they're not there.

"Everything he does, there is a reason behind it. It's like he's been here before - certain players have this, you can't put your finger on what it is, but it's just a quality. I love watching him play. He's going to be a superstar.”

Martial has made a great start to life at United and appears to have established himself as key member of manager Louis van Gaal’s starting lineup.

In three Premier League appearances so far this season, the 19-year-old has scored three goals and created two chances.

The teenager has yet to score in the Champions League for the Red Devils, but he has created three chances in two appearances in Europe’s premier club competition.

Following Redknapp’s comments about Martial, United fans took to Twitter to have their say.
