Leeds United lost 2-0 to Birmingham City on Saturday but what did Whites fans make of their new winger's performance?
Leeds United gave a debut to new signing Will Buckley on Saturday but it is fair to say the Sunderland loanee did not have the best of matches.
The 25-year-old has been training with Leeds for a couple of weeks now and he officially completed his temporary switch to Elland Road on Friday, allowing him to make his debut the following day.
Buckley started the match as manager Uwe Rosler searched for what would have been only the club’s third win of the season, but when the full-time whistle blew Birmingham City led 2-0 and the winger had long since been substituted.
Given his complete lack of senior football this season prior to Saturday’s outing, it is no surprise Buckley looked off the pace and was replaced in the 57th minute by another recent addition, Jordan Botaka.
Eventually Buckley will no doubt have a vital role to play for Leeds, but he needs time to settle and build up his match fitness.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Leeds fans thought of Buckley’s debut and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Will Buckley looked off the pace today, needs a bit more time to get up to speed #lufc— LUFCInc (@LUFCInc) October 3, 2015
Things will get better once Will Buckley makes his debut.#lufc— shaun@Dr.T (@DoctorT1992) October 3, 2015
Will Buckley was really really poor today, didn't seem to gel with other players at all. But I'll give him time.— Lewis Middleton (@DirtyLeedsTV) October 3, 2015
Will Buckley's debut for #lufc lasts just 57 minutes. Botaka comes on, Buckley ineffective. Leeds still have a lot to do to get back in this— Nathan Hemmingham (@NathanH79) October 3, 2015
Botaka for Buckley. Poor debut for Buckley all things considered— Leeds United (@LeedsUtd1992) October 3, 2015
