BBC pundit reacts on Twitter to Deulofeu's performance v Liverpool

Everton

Everton fans didn't seem too pleased with the Spaniard at the time of the praise, however...

BBC pundit Jermaine Jenas was full of praise for Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu after the Merseyside derby, with the 21-year-old registering an assist against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Indeed, former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers winger Hogan Ephraim found himself praising the Everton youngster's crossing, suggesting he is one of the best deliverers of the ball in the Premier League.

And Jenas agreed with him on Twitter, heaping praise on the Toffees forward during his display against Liverpool.

Deulofeu returned to Everton this summer, with the deal being on a permanent basis on this occasion.

But Everton fans didn't share the optimism of either Ephraim or Jenas.

That said, they weren't disputing the ability of Deulofeu's crossing. They were, however, expressing their frustration with the 21-year-old's performance against Liverpool.

Deulofeu set Romelu Lukaku up for his first-half goal with a brilliant delivery. But where was he for the rest of the encounter? In the end, he was substituted in favour of Aaron Lennon - and Everton supporters were keen to state what they thought of his contribution on Twitter...
