Everton fans didn't seem too pleased with the Spaniard at the time of the praise, however...
Indeed, former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers winger Hogan Ephraim found himself praising the Everton youngster's crossing, suggesting he is one of the best deliverers of the ball in the Premier League.
And Jenas agreed with him on Twitter, heaping praise on the Toffees forward during his display against Liverpool.
Deulofeu returned to Everton this summer, with the deal being on a permanent basis on this occasion.
I was just thinking the same thing pal https://t.co/Sx2H85Qsvp— Jermaine Jenas (@jjenas8) October 4, 2015
Deulofeu is one of the best crossers in the league. Crosses early, at pace, with whip, he puts allsorts on em— Hogan Ephraim (@HoganEphraim) October 4, 2015
But Everton fans didn't share the optimism of either Ephraim or Jenas.
That said, they weren't disputing the ability of Deulofeu's crossing. They were, however, expressing their frustration with the 21-year-old's performance against Liverpool.
Deulofeu set Romelu Lukaku up for his first-half goal with a brilliant delivery. But where was he for the rest of the encounter? In the end, he was substituted in favour of Aaron Lennon - and Everton supporters were keen to state what they thought of his contribution on Twitter...
Deulofeu looking like a child playing a mans game. He needs to be taken off, allow Lennon to play his first Derby #EFC— Gary Kinsey (@KinseyEFC) October 4, 2015
This might bite me on the arse but Deulofeu is the weak link. #EFC— Mark Dethridge (@Condama66) October 4, 2015
