Andy Carroll responds on Twitter when asked to predict Everton-Liverpool result

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll joined Liverpool from Newcastle United in January 2011.

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Liverpool will win the Merseyside derby against Everton this afternoon.

Carroll was on the books of Liverpool from January 2011 till the summer of 2013, having joined the Reds from Premier League rivals Newcastle United.

The England international appears to have a soft spot for the Reds and has apparently backed them to win against Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League this afternoon.

Form guide

Everton will head into the Merseyside derby on the back of a 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion away from home in the Premier League.

Roberto Martinez’s side are in great form at the moment and currently find themselves just three points off the top four with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are struggling for form and for points at the moment and are as low as 10th in the Premier League table at the moment.

Although the Reds are just a point behind Everton, manager Brendan Rodgers is under huge pressure and will have to steer his side to a win this afternoon.
