Sunderland 2-2 West Ham - Payet equaliser completes fightback

Sunderland and West Ham drew 2-2 at the Stadium of Light this afternoon.

West Ham United produced a stirring comeback to deny Sunderland a first Premier League win of the season at the Stadium of Light this afternoon.

The Hammers went in to the game with a famed away record this season, having beaten Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City away from home under new manager Slaven Bilic.

However, that stunning record on the road looked like coming to an end early, as Steven Fletcher thrashed the ball home from Yann M'Vila's free-kick.

The Black Cats were then in dreamland as Jeremain Lens went through on goal, and dinked the ball over Adrian and in to the net off the underside of the crossbar.

West Ham did start their revival just before half time, as Carl Jenkinson pulled a goal back from Victor Moses' pass for the Hammers before the break.

Then, goalscorer Lens was sent off for a second yellow card, and just moments later, the Hammers took full advantage with Dimitri Payet scoring an equaliser.

West Ham couldn't find the winner though, meaning both teams ended up with a point in an exciting, action-packed match on Wearside.
