City will take on the Magpies at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, and former Newcastle striker Owen fancies a home win.
“City are unbeaten in their last 17 PL games with Newcastle and the Magpies have failed to score in the last five games between the sides,” the former England international striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Sergio Aguero’s late winning penalty in the Champions League midweek could turn out to be a very significant moment in their season and I expect to see a comfortable home win.”
Like Owen, many Premier League observers will back City to win against Newcastle this Saturday.
Playing at home is an advantage for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who returned to winning ways on Wednesday evening.
City got the better of Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1 away from home in the Champions League Group D.
However, Newcastle have a positive mood around them, having held defending Premier League champions Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at St. James’ Park in the league last weekend.
City will be favourites to win on Saturday, but a draw for the Magpies is not entirely out of question.
Newcastle have won just one of their 18 league games since the beginning of March.
