If the reports are true and Aston Villa have a genuine interest in Besiktas midfielder Gokhan Tore, then the 23-year-old did he chances of earning a Premier League move no harm with a goal in the Europa League.
Once on the books at Chelsea as a trainee, Tore enjoyed short spells with Hamburg and Rubin Kazan before sealing a move to Turkey.
Since then the winger has excelled for the Black Eagles, scoring 15 goals in 84 appearances to date for the Istanbul side to catch the eye of Villa, according to Turkish news source Milliyet.
Capped 22 times to date by Turkey, Tore’s fine form has even spilled over into the Europa League, with the attacker bagging a potentially crucial equaliser in a 1-1 home draw with Sporting Lisbon.
Collecting a careful pass from teammate Jose Sosa in the Sporting box, Tore showed plenty of composure to pass the ball beyond the keeper’s reach and low into the right hand corner of the net.
A strong dribbler who is deadly shooting from distance, the 23-year-old is also an excellent passer of the ball and could prove a useful addition to the Claret and Blue ranks.
Tim Sherwood, take note.
