Gillingham to land Charlton defender Harry Lennon

Charlton Athletic - The Valley

HITC Sport understands Charlton defender Harry Lennon is set to join Gillingham on loan.

League One high-flyers Gillingham have agreed a deal to bring Charlton Athletic defender Harry Lennon back to the club on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Lennon spent a month on loan at Gillingham last season, making two appearances for the Gills before returning to Charlton.

The 20-year-old is a product of Charlton's academy and is highly-rated within the corridors of power at the Valley.

The central defender made his senior debut in January 2014 in a FA Cup clash against Huddersfield Town and he has gone on to make two further first-team appearances for the Addicks.

Lennon is well down the pecking order in Guy Luzon's plans this season and the club feel he would be best served to go out on loan to get some regular first-team experience under his belt.

Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh has moved quickly to agree a deal for Charlton to take Lennon back to the Priestfield on a month's loan as he looks to bolster his defensive options.

Lennon is set to go straight into the Gillingham squad for this weekend's clash with Oldham Athletic
