An unnamed Chinese club have made an offer for former Liverpool and Arsenal man Jermaine Pennant, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the potential deal.
Pennant is on the lookout for a new club having been a free agent since leaving Wigan Athletic at the end of last season.
Ex-Stoke City star Pennant was offered a new deal at Wigan, but he decided to leave the club to look for pastures new.
Pennant had been linked with a move to Charlton Athletic in August, after linking up with the club for training.
Pennant has plied his trade abroad before in Spain with Real Zaragoza and FC Pune City in India and he is understood to be open to the idea of moving to China.
The mystery Chinese Super League side are ready to offer Pennant a lucrative deal to move to the Far East and hope to finalise a deal in January.
Pennant is keen to find himself a club in England in the meantime on a short-term basis ahead of the potential move to China.
