Sunderland have still yet to win a Premier League game this season, and have notched just two points from seven games under Dick Advocaat.
The Dutchman is under pressure already after a slow start to the season, and the Stadium of Light crowd will be desperate for the first win of the season on Saturday.
They host a West Ham side who have been sensational away from home, beating Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, conceding just once and scoring seven in those games.
Their home form hasn't been quite so impressive, with just one win under Slaven Bilic, but the Croatian may be glad to get back on the road this weekend, given their astonishing away form this season.
Despite that, pundit Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that Sunderland will win the game 2-0 - even though he believes the Black Cats are the worst team in the Premier League, based on their performances so far this season.
"From what I have seen so far this season, Sunderland are the worst team in the Premier League," said Lawrenson. "West Ham have been brilliant away from home, so you might think this will be a straightforward victory for the Hammers. But football does not work like that, which is why we love it, and why I am going for a surprise result at the Stadium of Light," he added.
Advocaat will need ex-Hammers youngster Jermain Defoe to have a big impact if Sunderland are to win, with the striker no doubt keen to score against his former club and finally hand his team their first win of the season.
