The exciting young Arsenal winger enjoyed a fine game for England's under-17s this week.
Arsenal’s teenage winger Reiss Nelson had a match to remember for England’s under-17 side this week.
The 15-year-old scored a hat-trick against Armenia in a Euro U17s Championship qualifying match on Thursday afternoon and his performance will no doubt have Gunners fans wondering if he can ultimately join the illustrious group of academy graduates who have featured for Arsenal’s first-team down the years.
Nelson is predominantly a left winger although he can also play on the opposite flank or as an attacking midfielder if required, and while he is extremely young, he featured for Arsenal’s U19 side in their UEFA Youth League match against Dinamo Zagreb earlier this season.
He played 62 minutes on that occasion but was unavailable to play in their next match against Olympiacos due to international commitments, and next up he and his young England teammates will take on Portugal in the final qualifying game.
Nelson will know the hard work is only just beginning as he bids to one day make it into Arsenal’s first-team, but hitting hat-tricks on international duty – even if only at under-17 level – is certainly a good start.
