Uwe Rosler says Will Buckley could make his Leeds debut this weekend

Sunderland-owned Will Buckley could make his debut for Leeds United against Birmingham City in the Championship on Saturday.

Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler has told the club’s official website that Will Buckley could make his debut this weekend.

The 25-year-old winger’s loan move to Leeds from Premier League outfit Sunderland is set to be finalised on Friday.

Rosler has stated that the former Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion star could feature for the Whites against Birmingham City at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

When asked if Buckley is in his plans for Saturday, Rosler told Leeds’ official website: “Definitely, he’s competing for a place.

“He brings experience in the Championship and experience of playing for a team who challenge at the top of the Championship.

“He brings pace, directness, goal-threat and he’s a good lad. He’s perfectly suited to our squad.”

Leeds will head into this weekend’s game placed 15th in the Championship table with 11 points from nine matches.

The West Yorkshire outfit, who are aiming for a top-10 finish in the league this season, are four points above the relegation zone and four behind sixth-place Cardiff City.

Meanwhile, Birmingham are flying high in the Championship and are fifth in the standings at the moment.

Gary Rowett’s side are currently fifth with 15 points from nine matches, five points behind second-place Middlesbrough.
