Memphis Depay failed to impress in his first Champions League group stage home game for Manchester United.
The summer signing from PSV Eindhoven was substituted just over an hour in, with Brazilian youngster Andreas Pereira brought on in his place.
The Dutchman was one of the club's marquee signings, and has had an inconsistent start at United.
He did score his first Premier League goal for the club at the weekend, but was unable to kick on last night against Wolfsburg.
His performance was overshadowed by Juan Mata, who scored one and created another to turn around an early goal conceded.
Depay completed a woeful 52 per cent of his passes, taking five shots at goal, with three on target.
He created one chance, while defensively he offered little with no tackles and just one interception.
His display even had United fans comparing him to Nani, the winger sold to Fenerbahce in the summer after several maddeningly inconsistent season at the club.
Depay, 21, seemed too keen to impress, to the detriment of himself and the team. This was a performance he needs to learn from if he is to be a success at Old Trafford, hopefully starting with a clash with Arsenal at the weekend.
Here's a look at how United fans reacted on Twitter to his performance...
Depay was horrible tonight. Here comes young Perreira. #mufc— Agent Provocateur (@De_Imperial) September 30, 2015
Id give depay 5 more starts and then bench him if he continues like this. Ashley Young is way better. #mufc— Tozli (@ara22t) September 30, 2015
Someone run Depay a bath. He's having a shocker!!! #MUFC— Sean Taylor (@Seanelius21) September 30, 2015
Now Depay, goes past Trasch.. blocked! Now Depay, goes past Trasch.. possession overturned. Come on Memphis! You can do better! #MUFC— iMallu (@NaanumEngineer) September 30, 2015
I would really like to see more urgency & commitment from Depay. Too casual & a little careless so far. #MUFC— محمد العمود (@Alamoud) September 30, 2015
