Slaven Bilic gives injury update ahead of West Ham's next match

The West Ham United boss is pleased that Enner Valencia is nearing a return.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has been speaking ahead of his side’s Premier League match against Sunderland at the weekend, with his comments later published on the Hammersofficial Twitter account.

West Ham have a few players currently side-lined through injury but Bilic had relatively positive news regarding their recoveries.

“The picture on team news will be clearer after training but definitely out is (Victor) Ogbonna,” Bilic said. “(Andy) Carroll will train with the fitness coach today and if it goes well he will train with us tomorrow and (Winston) Reid is doubtful.”

Reid has been brilliant for West Ham so far this season and his absence would be a big blow for a side that has already recorded away victories against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City this season.

Next up for the Hammers is a trip to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland, but despite the Black Cats lowly position West Ham will not be taking them lightly.

Some more positive injury news came when Bilic spoke about striker Enner Valencia, who is yet to play in the Premier League this season due to a calf injury.

He scored in his one and only appearance so far this season – against Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League – but he could soon be back doing what he does best in the top flight.

“Enner will join us in parts of training today,” the West Ham boss added. “It is massive news for us that he is getting closer. If everything goes well it is a matter of two or three weeks for him.”
