According to Watford-based media outlet WD Sport, Scottish champions Celtic are still very much interested in signing Ikechi Anya of Watford in the near future, as Ronny Deila looks to add further homegrown players to his squad.
The Glaswegian wide-man has played for Watford since 2012, although he only agreed a permanent deal in the summer of 2013 after spending his first season at Vicarage Road on loan from Granada.
A consistent first-team player during his time in Hertfordshire, the Scottish international, 27, has moved up a level this season to establish himself as first-choice left-back in the Hornets’ set-up - despite being a natural winger.
He has impressed head coach Quique Sanchez Flores enough to displace Jose Holebas in the left-back position, whilst also featuring in his more natural wide attacking role if needed.
The Bhoys have been long-term admirers of Anya, and the report claims that they remain exceptionably keen to sign the speedster, although there are no indications that the Hornets are looking to sell due to having agreed a new deal with one of their key players.
The new contract could be just to increase Anya's value, with his previous contract expiring at the end of this season, and it would now take a large bid from Celtic to even enter into discussions with the Hornets concerning Anya's sale.
