The 26-year-old midfielder has established himself in Paulo Sousa’s side since his transfer from Hamburg last summer, and this season has seen him as one of the key players in Fiorentina’s well performing side.
He has played four games in Serie A, winning 2.5 tackles per game, 2.3 interceptions per game and making 1.5 clearances every time he takes to the field. A strong presence in midfield, the Croatian international often takes the holding role to help shield his defence and add physicality to the middle of La Viola’s tactical set-up.
This form has seen Badelj earning rave reviews, and garnering interest from England, with the report claiming that Aston Villa are particularly keen on him.
However, it is stated that, although they are planning a move for him, it will not be until next summer, with it unlikely Sousa would want to sell one of his key players this season, especially as Fiorentina are sitting top of Serie A with plans to stay in that position for the entire campaign.
No other teams are said to be interested as of now, but if Badelj continues his exceptional form throughout the whole season, it would be no surprise to see a number of Europe’s biggest sides want the midfielder next summer.
