Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman questions professionalism of Ben Osborn

Holloway & Freedman

The Scot is not sure the midfielder is doing all he can to remain fit.

Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman has confirmed that midfielder Ben Osborn will miss the upcoming game with Hull City as he is struggling with a groin injury.

The 21-year-old from derby has put in some good performances lately but will have to watch on this weekend with another niggling injury problem.

It is certainly something that has irritated his gaffer slightly.

As a player Dougie Freedman was heralded for his fitness and was always going to any means necessary to stay fit.

The Scot is now in charge at Nottingham Forest and expects the same level of commitment from his current crop of players – including Osborn.

Clearly, at the moment, Freedman does not believe Osborn does enough to remain fit.

He told BBC Nottingham yesterday:

“He will miss the game this Saturday. Again he is a good young player but he got a slap on the wrist from me a couple of weeks ago on his conditioning and how he sees his professionalism.

“He just needs to work on his condition, every day and in every single training session.”

Osborn has played four times in the Championship this season and is one of many talented youngsters coming through the ranks at the club.

But it seems he still has a long way to go if he is to be physically prepared for football at this level, at least in the eyes of his manager.
