Middlesbrough to let Yanic Wildschut leave on loan; Wigan lead chase

HITC Sport understands that the winger is attracting interest from the Championship and League One.

Middlesbrough are set to allow Yanic Wildschut to leave on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a proposed deal.

A number of Championship and League One clubs have made enquiries to land the Dutch winger in the last few weeks.

But HITC Sport understands that Wigan Athletic are confident of finalising a deal to land the 23-year-old.

Wildschut joined Boro from Dutch side Heerenveen last year, but he has never been able to make himself a first-team regular and has been limited to a dozen appearances.

Now he is set to become the third winger to leave Boro on loan in recent weeks, following Muzzy Carayol and Adam Reach out of the club on temporary deals, after they joined Huddersfield and Preston North End respectively.

Were he to link up with Wigan, he would be joining a club looking to bounce back into the Championship at the first time of asking – with the Latics currently sat two points outside of the play-off places in the third tier.
