Coventry head the loan queue for Leeds forward Lee Erwin

Elland Road East Stand

HITC Sport understands that the Scottish striker could drop down into League One if a loan move is sanctioned.

League One promotion chasers Coventry City are leading the chase to land Leeds striker Lee Erwin, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a possible deal.

Erwin has been scoring goals for fun in Leeds’ development squad and despite a recent injury to leading scorer Chris Wood, boss Uwe Rosler seems unwilling to give him his chance.

The summer signing from Motherwell insists he is happy to wait for his opportunity at Elland Road, but that looks like being longer than most expected.

The 21-year-old is now attracting attention from a number of clubs back in Scotland, but it is understood Leeds would want him to stay in England, and plenty of interest is arriving from League One.

HITC Sport understands that Coventry City are heading the chase having made contact with Leeds about taking on Erwin.

The Sky Blues currently sit seventh in the third tier standings, one point outside the play-off places and five adrift of the automatic promotion spots.
