HITC Sport understands Terry Butcher has been sacked as Newport County manager.
Former Inverness and Hibernian boss Terry Butcher has been axed as Newport County manager, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Newport have endured a miserable start to the season and currently sit rock-bottom of League Two.
The Exiles have won just one of their opening 10 games, and that only came last weekend against Carlisle.
Newport were hoping to build on that victory, but they fell to a 3-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Crawley Town in midweek.
That defeat was the final straw for the club's board who have decided to replace Butcher and look to bring in a new man to transform their fortunes.
Former England captain Butcher took over at Newport at the end of April in preparation for the 2015/16 season, but he has struggled to get the team on the winning track.
Butcher succeeded Justin Edinburgh at Newport after the former Totttenham Hotspur defender left last February to join Gillingham.
