Southampton summer signing Cedric says he's loving life at St. Mary's

Cedric joined Southampton from Sporting Lisbon in the summer transfer window.

Cedric Soares has told Southampton's official website that he is loving life at St. Mary's, after signing for the club over the summer.

The Portuguese international joined the Saints from Sporting Lisbon, and he has immediately been thrust into Ronald Koeman's starting line-up.

Cedric has played nine times for Southampton already, and he has impressed during his initial showings for the south coast club.

The right-back has proved to be reliable defensively, but his skill going forward also makes him a vital outlet and he says that he is enjoying playing for Koeman.

“I’m really enjoying Southampton. Playing for Southampton is always a big pleasure because of the environment and the fans, I really like it," he said.

“I’ve settled in very good, I’m playing and I’m trying to do my best. There’s lots of intensity, every game is like a final and we need to go with everything in each game.

“You need all your strength if you’re not going to lose and that’s what is exciting about the Premier League,” the right-back continued.

“I’m really enjoying the Premier League and I will try to play every game because every game has amazing stadiums and amazing fans.”

Cedric had previously never played outside Portugal, and he is clearly enjoying acclimatising to his new surroundings.

The 24-year-old will hope to improve further as the season progress and he becomes more accustomed to his role at Southampton, with the team starting to click into gear.

Koeman's side's results were poor at the very beginning of the season, but they have improved of late and are now in 10th place in the Premier League table.
