The Baggies are still on the look out for a new left-back, with Chris Brunt continuing to play in the unnatural position, and a report in the Daily Mail claims that Jose Enrique of Liverpool has come onto Tony Pulis’ radar.
Enrique was actually wanted by West Brom over the summer transfer window, with the Liverpool Echo confirming that the Reds had agreed a fee with Pulis concerning his transfer, although the move collapsed at the end of the window.
Despite this, Pulis continues to be keen on signing the 29-year-old full-back, formerly of Newcastle, and he has sent scouts to watch him take part in Under-21 action with Liverpool.
The Spaniard has not made an appearance for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season, and his 45 minute appearance for the Under-21’s brought little of note.
However, Pulis has instructed his scouts to keep watching Enrique, knowing that his contract with the Reds expires at the end of this season.
Liverpool will be open to selling him in the January transfer window, well aware that if he stays on Merseyside past the close of the window, he will leave Anfield for free in the summer.
West Brom are sure to monitor this situation, and it would be no surprise to see Pulis sanction another approach for the left-back in January.
