Photos: Origi all smiles in Liverpool training, Rossiter tackles like Gerrard

The linked-away forward looks happy at Melwood, while the 18-year-old remains determined to make an impression.

Linked-away Liverpool forward Divock Origi looked delighted to be a part of first-team training on Wednesday afternoon.

Boss Brendan Rodgers is quoted as telling reporters by the Daily Express among others that the 20-year-old will not be leaving on loan in January but that does not mean there wasn't speculation - and it does not necessarily mean that speculation won't continue.

Either way, though, the young Liverpool forward looked happy at Melwood, sharing a smile with Mamadou Sakho and then getting involved during practice...

But he wasn't the only one, with 18-year-old Jordan Rossiter looking reminiscent of a young, tough-tackling Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard has often spoken in his autobiographies of the energetic youngster he was in Liverpool training, eager to impress and diving into every shot and tackle with all his heart.

Rossiter, while we don't know if he'll ever be as good as the Reds legend or not, looks to at least possess some of that same energy.

He was snapped tackling the likes of James Milner and Jordon Ibe as he pushes for another appearance for the Anfield outfit when they take on FC Sion in the Europa League on Thursday night. Origi may well start that game, too.
