Prior to this season, if you had told a Manchester United fan that Adnan Januzaj would be pictured travelling to a match with German international Marcos Reus, most would have assumed Louis van Gaal had pulled off a transfer master-stroke.
But Reus never did make it to Old Trafford, with Januzaj instead heading to Borussia Dortmund on loan to continue his development.
The move was baffling to many, with Januzaj proving he has plenty to offer United’s first-team squad and some fearing it could be a step towards the Belgian international leaving for good. But whatever the future does hold, the 20-year-old appears to be enjoying himself in Germany.
The United play-maker posted a photograph of himself on Twitter along with Reus, and the German star was quick to return the favour, suggesting that a new friendship has quickly been born.
Reus would be a wonderful signing for United, having scored 59 goals and provided 46 assists in 131 matches for Dortmund.
This season the 26-year-old has scored six times in Dortmund’s scintillating start while Januzaj has had to be a little more patient for game-time, coming off the bench three times in the Bundesliga but playing the entire Europa League clash against FK Krasnador earlier this month.
