The Aston Villa striker is terrorising his own defenders as well as other teams'.
The former Blackburn Rovers player has settled well at Villa Park, scoring four goals in his first eight matches for his new side, and Sherwood explained that it is not only opposing defenders who are not enjoying coming up against the 26-year-old Benin international.
“I see it every day in training,” Sherwood told the Birmingham Mail. “You almost see the defenders flinching. You see them coming in but Rudy’s timing is perfect.”
The problem for Villa is that despite Gestede’s promising start, the club are still struggling for points and currently find themselves 18th in the Premier League after collecting just four points in their first seven matches.
There is still plenty of time to turn things round, but Gestede alone will not be able to do that and it is up to all his Villa teammates to pull together and help them climb into the top half of the table sooner rather than later.
After all, Gestede may be a significant weapon on the field, but the likes of Scott Sinclair, Jack Grealish and Carles Gil are also more than capable of scoring regularly, while the defence will only get better in time.
