According to the Chronicle, Newcastle have no plans to loan out French striker Emmanuel Riviere following his return to fitness from injury.
Riviere has had little impact at St James’ Park during his time with the Tyneside club, but he has been offered a clean slate to impress under Steve McClaren.
However, he has been struck down with an injury since early in pre-season, leaving him no chance to impress the head coach.
Able to play upfront or on both wings, Wolves were looking at a loan deal for Riviere due to the need to bring in another striker to cover for the loss of Nouha Dicko to injury.
However, the latest report makes it clear that Newcastle have no plans to send out the forward on loan, with McClaren keen to utilise him in his first-team squad.
Despite this, the Magpies are ready to loan out one striker, with the report confirming that Ivan Toney is still set to head away from St James’ Park on a temporary deal.
Having made his Premier League debut at the weekend, Toney is expected to head out on loan, with Newcastle chiefs believing he will benefit from playing consistent first-team football at Football League level for a month or two.
