The trio of talented Manchester United youngsters looked to be enjoying themselves in training this week.
Manchester United have so many famous faces in their squad that it is easy to forget the youngsters trying to navigate their own path to first-team stardom. But a closer look at the images of players training on Tuesday showed the presence of three relatively unfamiliar faces.
Guillermo Varela, James Weir and Josh Harrop all took part in training as United prepared for their vital Champions League group match against Bundesliga club Wolfsburg on Wednesday, and while none of the three are likely to feature in the match-day squad, it is a sign of how highly they are regarded.
Varela is a right-back who spent last season on loan at Real Madrid Castilla, for whom he played an impressive 33 times.
At 22, and with three years left on his United contract, the Uruguayan has time to stake a claim although the presence of Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia means Varela is unlikely to get much game-time in the short-term.
Harrop is a 19-year-old attacking midfielder who has been impressing at under-21 level for quite some time, while Weir is a 20-year-old winger who scored and assisted for the under-21 against Everton earlier this month and has four goals and six assists at that level to date.
Training with the United first-team is only going to be good for their development and it will be interesting to see which of them takes the step up first.
