Controversial striker Nile Ranger has reached out to fans of his former clubs.

Controversial striker Nile Ranger has reached out to fans of his former clubs to state he was sorry for not making the most of opportunities which had been given to him.

The forward is currently contracted to Blackpool, and infamously went AWOL at the club last season for several months.

Ranger played in the Premier League for Newcastle United, and has offered a rare look behind his mindset, sending a lengthy message on social media, which can be read below.

Ranger blames off field tragedies for causing him to lose focus, and says he still has a passion for football.

At 24-years-old the former England youth international striker's long term career in the game remains questionable, given his recent lack of playing time and poor reputation.

Ranger is attempting to get out of his contract at Blackpool and become a free agent, but the Blackpool Gazette reported that club chairman Karl Oyston is refusing to grant his request.

The striker's contract was bizarrely renewed in the summer, but first team boss Neil Macdonald has told him to stay away from the club as he is not in his plans.
