The England youth international has played in every one of Tottenham's Premier League games so far, and has been handed a new role in defensive midfield by Mauricio Pochettino.
Dier's performances in the heart of Spurs' team have been consistently excellent, and after the 21-year-old struck a wonderful goal in Tottenham's 4-1 victory over Manchester City, King spoke about his admiration for the former Sporting Lisbon man.
"I've been really impressed by Eric Dier," King told Sky Sports. "The first time I saw him in midfield was in pre-season. Right from the start he surprised me with his composure in there. It's totally different. You can be composed at the back but midfield is a different ball game because you have to have a lot more awareness about you.
"I do see Dier as a centre-back and I think he's going to have a big long-term future there."
Pochettino has shown great faith in Dier ever since he arrived in the summer of 2014, and the versatile youngster is repaying the Argentine manager in abundance now.
Whether utilised at right-back, centre-back or defensive midfield, Dier's quality has always been on full display and he is just one of the exciting talents in this Tottenham team.
The likes of Nabil Bentaleb, Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Ryan Mason also appear to have very bright futures, and the hope is that the group will all develop together at White Hart Lane.
If they do, then the future looks very promising for Spurs, with the Lilywhites currently sitting in sixth place in the Premier League table.
