Tottenham Hotspur-owned defender DeAndre Yedlin has told Sunderland’s official website that the best player he has played against so far in his career is Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
Yedlin, who joined Sunderland on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham in the summer transfer window, played against the 24-year-old winger at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
Belgium won that encounter 2-1 after extra time, and it seems that the Chelsea man left an impression on Yedlin.
While naming Hazard as the best player he has played against so far in his career, the 22-year-old told Sunderland’s official website: “Obvious going into it (the game), you know who he is, he is a big name. He is quick, he is tough to defend, he is unbelievable with the ball.”
One of the world’s best
Hazard is one of the best players in the world and can feature as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.
The former Lille star was arguably Chelsea’s best player last season, as Jose Mourinho’s side won the Premier League title.
The Belgium international scored 14 goals and created as many 100 chances in 38 league matches.
Hazard, though, is not playing as well as he should this season and has yet to find the target in seven Premier League appearances for the Blues.
The 24-year-old, though, has created 26 chances and has a pass accuracy of 88%.
