Wednesday brought in a number of new players over the summer, but Carvalhal wants them to work together to push the side up the Championship table.
And the Portuguese boss has revealed that he has constantly been feeding his players the message that they will need to apply themselves if they want to stay in his first-team set-up.
“The players know they must work hard for the team," he said. "I keep telling the players they must put the team first and give everything. They are doing absolutely fantastic at the moment and I am very happy with the squad.”
Carvalhal has rotated with his Wednesday side this season, as he looks to ensure that he utilises all of the quality available to him.
The Owls have one of the largest squads in the Championship, and they have already used 24 different players already this term.
That is more than the total that Bournemouth used throughout the entire 2014/15 campaign, when they won the second tier title, but Carvalhal's plan seems to be working.
Wednesday have won their last three matches, and the team appear to be buying into his ethos, as they climb the standings rapidly.
