Callum Wilson has been ruled out for six months.
Bournemouth have been stunned by the news key striker Callum Wilson has been ruled out of action for more at least six months.
Wilson had begun the season in superb form, scoring a hat-trick against West Ham in late August.
He was set to be a key player for the club this campaign, and Bournemouth will not have to look to back-ups Glenn Murray and Josh King among others, to step up.
Wilson's early season form had even sparked talk of a potential England call-up, added to the outstanding form he showed in the Championship last season.
Bournemouth have suffered poor luck early this season, with Wilson the third player to suffer a serious injury this season.
New signings Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel are both on the sidelines and not expected to return until next year, and the club could now be forced to go back into the transfer market in January to strengthen their attack as they bid to stay in the top flight.
Here is a look at how Bournemouth fans reacted to the blow via Twitter...
